Abstract

A double contrast enema technique is described which requires no special radiographic equipment and does not depend upon tannic acid or its equivalents. It is completed in a single trip to the screening table and employs both decubitus and erect films. It is designed to be used with disposable enema equipment to eliminate the risk of transmission of poliomyelitis virus. A detailed description of the technique of filling the whole colon using only small amounts of contrast is given. The application of the technique to the diseases of the colon is illustrated.
