Abstract

A simple method which enables the simultaneous determination of acetoacetate and glucose in capillary blood at rates up to 60 samples per hour is described. A Technicon AutoAnalyzer is used. Acetoacetate is coupled with 2,5-dichlorobenzene diazonium chloride to produce formazan derivatives which are measured photo-metrically. Glucose is measured by the ferricyanide method. This new method for acetoacetate compares favourably with an established enzymic method. The method is suitable for routine application in a hospitallaboratory.
