Abstract

The gamma decay of the highly excited nucleus of 114Cd, formed by neutron capture, has been simulated numerically. The intensity of transitions between low-lying states was found to be dependent on the neutron resonance spin, as expected from the low-level population spin assignment method. The simulations are in excellent agreement with recent measurements of neutron p-wave resonance spin assignments in 113Cd. The simulations support the work of spin assignment necessary for the interpretation of parity nonconservation measurements.
