Abstract

Through the analysis of the characteristics of the drying process of biomass fuel particles, a numerical model was developed to describe the heat and mass transfer process in pneumatic drying of biomass fuel particles in horizontal tube based on two-phase flow theory. This model is solved by numerical method. The experiment result shows that the model can reflect the actual drying process precisely. The whole drying process can be divided into two parts: fast drying section and the moderate drying section. Experiments were conducted under the conditions of different initial moisture content, air temperature and quality flow of material, with the effects of various factors analyzed.
