Abstract

This paper presents a simulation method with ANSYS Maxwell suited to study three-dimensional electrostatic weighting field in a Multi-gap Resistive Plate Chamber (MRPC). The variation of the three-dimensional weighting field with the change in the MRPC design parameters has been studied in detail, which will help us better understand the chamber response. Finally, we shall achieve more real simulation of the chamber signal by introducing the 3D weighting field results into our standalone simulation framework. Signals induced on strip electrodes and simulation results of time resolution and position resolution have been discussed and compared with experimental test.
