Abstract

The primary objective of this research is to clarify its guiding significance for freeway risk analysis based on the comprehension of situational awareness (SA) theory, and to provide a theoretical basis for determining freeway risk factors and building a risk warning system in the future. The theory of situational awareness is originated in the military field and later has been widely applied in the field of network security. Situation awareness theory includes three stages: perception of environmental factors, understanding of the current state, and prediction of the future state, which will be applied to deeply analyze freeway risk problems and promote active traffic management.
