Abstract

We address the gap in the knowledge in regard to the significance of refinement δ-ferritic grain in low-density steel by understanding grain boundary precipitation of Fe2Zr. In this regard, the effect of Fe2Zr on refinement δ-ferritic grain was studied and compared with Zr-free steel. The results of the experiments suggest that Fe2Zr exhibits a strong and effective pinning of δ-ferritic grain, and leads to refinement of δ-ferritic grains in Zr-containing steels as compared to Zr-free steel. Furthermore, the precipitation analysis suggested that there was a semi-coherent interface between Fe2Zr and δ-ferrite in a specific direction, and the orientation relationship between them was determined.
