Abstract
The characteristics of black liquor sprays can be estimated using flashing maps that present the velocity of the spray at different spraying temperatures as a function of mass flux. Dimensionless velocity describes well the flashing intensity of the flow and is the key factor in estimating the effect of minor changes in spraying tem-perature or mass flux. The flashing maps give valuable initial data useful for boiler modeling purposes and boiler operations.
