Abstract

The biophysical phenomena underlying the electrical activity of the detrusor smooth muscle are unclear because of the small cell size, their syncytial organization, and the complex innervation. A detailed analysis of the signals recorded intracellularly from a rat bladder tissue might shed some light on the network arrangements, the innervation, and the electrical properties of the smooth muscle cells.
