Abstract

The crime of hired killers in recent years has become an obvious social problem, in which the life of an individual has an economic value, this activity frequently exposes children and adolescents in situations of vulnerability and abandonment, as groups criminals and gangs recruit them and use them as instruments to carry out criminal activities because although it is true within the Ecuadorian law specifically in the Comprehensive Criminal Code, it condemns the crime of hired killers with the deprivation of liberty, it does not establish specific sanctions for those adolescents that are directly involved in acts that attempt against the inviolability of life, the provinces with the highest rate of hired killers where adolescents are involved are Guayas, Manabi, El Oro, Esmeraldas and Sucumbios. From this, and as a methodology used, this research was developed under a qualitative-quantitative approach, supported by a bibliographical and field research, where the former emphasizes the processing of information from secondary sources such as books, laws, codes to theoretically support each of the variables that in this case were (contract killers and adolescent offenders), while the second focuses on an in situ study; that is, a study in the place where the problematic phenomenon occurs, the subjects under study were the lawyers in free professional practice of Ambato canton, to whom a structured instrument with questions was applied in order to address the issue. Under this scenario and as main findings it was possible to determine that a high percentage of the crime of hired killers is due to revenge, acts of intimidation, settling accounts and even in exchange for compensation of an economic nature, as well as the reasons why adolescents They are exposed to these illicit activities because of the vulnerability in which they find themselves or because of the abandonment they suffered on the part of their parents, which makes them the perfect target for those criminal organizations..
