Abstract

The Sibley Music Library of the Eastman School of Music is a major full-service library. Together with the Rush Rhees Library serving the colleg s on the River Campus and the Edward G. Miner Library serving the Sch ol of Medicine and Den istry, it is an i tegral part of the University of Rochester Library System. Occupyi g on of the buildings of the Eastman School complex in downtown Rochester, New York, it has a primary goal to serve the students, faculty, and staff of the Sc ool. Secondarily, it acts as a music reference resource or the community. This dual role may be understood in th light of the library's history, which antedat s by two decades the founding of the School with which it is now associated.
