Abstract

The arguments for the need for continuing education in biology, and in other fields, are well known and are increasingly being accepted. The contribution that short courses can make to this has been discussed with particular reference to the aims of such courses and to the kinds of subject matter in mycology and microbiology which are particularly suitable for short courses.
