Abstract

1. 1. Transcribed DNA regions of P815 genorne have been isolated by affinity chromatography of nuclear DNA with heterogeneous nuclear RNA (hnRNA) immobilized to Sepharose 4B columns. 2. 2. These regions contain 70% unique and intermediary repetitive sequences, 17% ordinary highly repetitive and 12% inverted repetitive sequences. In the transcribed DNA regions the proportion of highly repetitive sequences of type ABC., ABC is lower, and that of inverted repeats of type ABC…CBA is higher as those in the non-transcribed ones. 3. 3. The binding of DNA fragments of various lengths to immobilized hnRNA suggests that an average transcribed DNA region is in the size of 3–6 kilo base pairs.
