Abstract
A novel broadband, low loss, medium/high power variable power divider (VPD) is proposed. It consists of a polarization rotator followed by a septum polarizer in cascade with a 3 dB hybrid. This VPD can be collocated in between the two classical topologies based on the two hybrid/two variable phase shifters and the polarization rotator among two orthomode transducers (OMT's) respectively. Wideband operation, low losses and accurate output voltages vs. frequency and setting are the key characteristics of this component.
