Abstract

The improved separation of steryl acetates using a nonpolar solvent system (1% ether in petroleum) with a continuous development technique is described. Silica gel, aluminium oxide, AgNO 3-impregnated silica gel, and Anasil B were used as adsorbents. The latter material afforded a separation of (24 R)- and (24 S)-isomers of 24-methylsterols.
