Abstract

The new technique of diffuse low energy electron diffraction (DLEED) is finding increasing use for surface structure determination. We explore its sensitivity to structural parameters, particularly to the lateral positioning of surface atoms. Our conclusions are that its sensitivity is uniform over a wide range of data. except for the general increase of sensivity with energy to be expected on the grounds of decreasing wavelength of the probe.
