Abstract

The selection of mining method for quarry mines is carried out on the basis of some criteria such as economic indicators, technical properties and efficiency. Multi-criteria decision-making techniques are very useful in this process because the selection of suitable method among a set of proposed methods depends on many criteria. In this paper, the fuzzy technique for order performance by similarity to ideal solution (FTOPSIS) is used to choose the best mining method from a set consisting of seven alternatives as follows: diamond wire sawing, chain saw machine, expansive agent, diamond wire sawing - chain saw machine, diamond wire sawing - expansive agent, chain saw machine - expansive agent and chain saw machine - expansive agent - diamond wire sawing method. Finally, the alternatives are ranked with respect to 12 defined criteria, leading to opting for the method of diamond wire sawing - chain saw machine, as the most appropriate mining method for the prevailing conditions at the Deh Gheybi Granite Mine.
