Abstract

The selection of supplementary books has always been a problem for school administrators. In recent years the problem has become more and more complex as a result of two easily recognizable conditions. First, publications for school use, like publications in general, increase in quantity each year. At the present time there are so many books produced that no school could afford to purchase all of them even if it desired to do so. The school necessarily must choose from the large number of books available those which will best contribute to the fulfilment of the objectives that have been established and which will meet the requirements of the local situation.
