Abstract

To the Editor: —InThe Journal, September 4, pp. 791, 793, 796, there were published reports of three committees on the revision of the U. S. Pharmacopeia, namely those of the committees of the Sections on Practice of Medicine, on Ophthalmology and on Stomatology. There are certain features in these reports well worthy of careful consideration and as they appeared at a time when many physicians had not returned from their vacation I am taking the liberty of calling attention to a few points. These committees were appointed to the sections at the request of the Committee on the U. S. Pharmacopeia of the American Medical Association. The latter committee was appointed by the Board of Trustees at the direction of the House of Delegates in compliance with a recommendation of the Section on Pharmacology and Therapeutics.
