Abstract
Recent legislation and social pressures produced changes in Animal Welfare Act, including a provision that requires environments that promote pscyhological well-being of captive nonhuman primates. This paper focuses on difficulties of both defining concept of the psychological well-being of primates and identifying relevant documentation. An extensive literature review, on-line search strategy, and a listing of legal references, handbooks, guidelines, and update bulletin from agencies and associations are included, as are leads to audiovisual materials.
