Abstract

The Search for Life on Other Planets is a very readable and wide‐ranging survey of the issues surrounding the search for evidence of extraterrestrial life. The author's writing style is clear and straightforward. The chapter on current thinking regarding the origin of life on Earth is particularly well done and comprehensive and will serve as a very good summary of the topic for planetary scientists who may not have followed this field closely in the past. The book is aimed mainly at an undergraduate or lay audience, however, and professionals in the planetary science community may find the coverage of more familiar topics such as planetary geology and atmospheres a bit shallow.
