Abstract
Presents a brief description of deep sea mining activities of the Canadian firm, the Metals Company (formerly called Deep-Green Metals). Like the voyage of the HMS Challenger in 1872, the Metals Company's mission is to find whether existing technology can be used to harvest nodules uncovered by the HMS Challenger which was found to be rich in manganese, iron, and nickel. Reports on the company's deep sea mining excavations as well as initiatives to comply with conservationists who worry about threats to sea ecosystems.
