Abstract
Practice nursing has traditionally been regarded as a job that places little demand on the practitioner's creative abilities and specialist knowledge. In reality, practice nursing is a challenging role which has a unique contribution to make to patient care. Practice nurses are developing a wide knowledge base and analytical ability that, if initiated, will be reflected in the future of advanced nurse practitioners.
