Abstract

This research attempts to interpret and analyze the concept of ’knowledge’ and ’religion’ and presents the role of scientific knowledge and its position on ’religion’ for Bacon. It is no secret to the follower of the history of philosophy that Bacon was one of the first philosophers to advocate for systematically independent rational knowledge. Applied knowledge must transcend the old speculative and idealistic knowledge. Because scientific thinking, in his opinion, requires an independent and personal approach and is based on rational and objective foundations as well. What distinguishes systematic thinking and scientific knowledge about religion and mythical and superstitious ideas is methodology, and scientific objectivity based on experience. If the human mind wants to reach the truth of things in life, it cannot be done by following subjective obsessions and fantasies. The error of the human mind and its failure to deal with matters correctly, is due to the use of unscientific and subjective tools and methods. And it comes back to knowledge that is not based on evidence and real, tangible evidence as well. From this point of view, the research presents Bacon’s ideas and his position on religion. He tries to answer various questions on this subject.
