THE SCIENTIFIC ARCHIVE OF BORIS OLEKSANDROVICH LUPANOV (1887–1959) IN THE FUNDS OF THE SCIENTIFIC LIBRARY OF ODESA I. I. MECHNIKOV NATIONAL UNIVERSITY

Abstract

The article focuses on the main stages of life, creativity and pedagogical activity of Boris Lupanov on the basis of materials of his personal archive fund of the Scientific Library of Odessa I. I. Mechnikov National University. In the 10-20’s of the 20th century B. O. Lupanov used to go to secondary schools of Odesa, in the 20’s and 50’s of the 20th century he was studying at higher educational institutions: the Novorossiya (Odesa) University and its successors – the Institute of Public Education, the Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences, the restored Odessa State University, the Music Conservatory, the Medical Institute, the Odesa State Pedagogical Institute of Foreign Languages, etc. He is took an active part in the formation and development of education in Odesa. The studied literature about him and the archival documents allowed to reconstruct and supplement the biography of the scientist. Some of the facts of the biography of B. O. Lupanov and his scientific journalistic works are introduced into scientific circulation for the first time.The most valuable part of the archive is the unpublished scientific-journalistic works of Professor B. O. Lupanov preserved in manuscripts. Among the documents of the fund there are no diaries or any other documents of a memoir type that would allow us to learn about the ideological foundations and personal characteristics of the scientist.The materials of the B. O. Lupanov personal archive fund are an important source of studying the scientific and pedagogical heritage of the scientist who was involved in the formation and activity of many scientific and educational institutions of Odesa in the first half of the 20th century. It should be noted that the B. O. Lupanov archive fund was recently introduced to a scientific research, the scientist has not been systematically studied. The archival heritage of Professor B. O. Lupanov is of great interest for humanitarian researchers.
