Summary

Introduction

With nearly 17 million daily smokers, smoking is a major health problem in Turkey [1]. Some life style modification treatments (smoking cessation and obesity) are provided free in primary care in Turkey through Healthy Life Centers administered by the Minister of Health. Many smokers may choose “over the counter products” which are offered as effective and a cheap therapy options for smoking cessation. These products mostly sold in web-based shopping sites or through other multimedia (television, internet etc.) resources. Pseudoscience consists of statements, beliefs, or practices that are claimed to be both scientific and factual but are incompatible with the scientific method [4,5].
