Abstract
The natural history of occlusive vascular disease in the lower extremities is discussed. It is suggested that intermittent claudication is in general not an indication for reconstructive surgery. It is suggested also that ail patients whose limb is threatened by rest pain, gangrene or severe ischæmia should be fully investigated, and the various types of arterial reconstruction which are now available are detailed.
