Abstract

Abstract The Saint-Venant problems of pure bending and the bending of a cylinder with helical anisotropy by a transverse force are reduced to boundary-value problems for systems of ordinary differential equations with variable coefficients. The problems are solved by two methods – the small-parameter method and numerical methods. The behaviour of the stiffnesses and the stress-strain state is investigated as a function of the parameters of the problem.
