Abstract

Trade marks have served as indicators of commercial origin, particularly of mass-produced goods, and along with the use of owners' marks, have probably existed since the birth of man. In this article the author explores the history of Viking trade marks with early examples of weapons bearing the maker's mark. He also investigates contemporary use of trade marks with a Viking theme, citing well-known examples such as “Bluetooth”.
