Abstract

Abstract This article discusses the future of the Russian military, civil and commercial space programmes in the context of the country's industrial policy. While the uncertain outcome of economic reform, difficulty in adapting to new situations and a struggle for control over the programme between the civilian Russian Space Agency (RSA) and the military old guard may act as initial constraints on Russian space activities, new entrepreneurial tendencies, changed military requirements and foreign investment may all help to invigorate the programme.
