Abstract
As the socialist nations and nationalities grow closer together, the Russian language will naturally increase in importance as a second native language for all the peoples and nationalities inhabiting our multinational homeland, and will become a "powerful instrument in creating mutual links and solidarity among the Soviet peoples and a means to bring to them the finest achievements of domestic and world culture," as was aptly noted in the resolution of the Central Committee of the CPSU, entitled "On the Preparation for the Fiftieth Anniversary of the Formation of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics."
