Abstract

The article discusses how of the rural population in the south of the Tyumen region assess working and living conditions in the current sociopolitical situation. The data of the author’s monitoring studies conducted in the south of the Tyumen region since 2014 under the auspices of the Committee on Nationalities Affairs of the Administration of the Tyumen region, as well as an online survey conducted in 2021 through the Google Forms online service among rural residents of the region, formed the base. The author notes that over the past decades, in general, Russian agriculture has fallen into decline, large agricultural enterprises and complexes have closed, and farmers, peasants, economists, deputies of the municipal and regional levels are talking about it with concern. So over the past 20 years, large village-forming enterprises in the south of the Tyumen region have closed. Based on the results of the study, the author demonstrates that the urgent task is to revive many enterprises, organizations that previously worked in rural settlements, providing an opportunity for young people to realize knowledge and skills in their small homeland, without leaving for the major cities of the region. The tendency to continuous improvement of infrastructure in the villages of the south of the Tyumen region is revealed. The conditions under which young people can stay in the countryside are indicated. To achieve this goal, it is necessary to create jobs, open cultural and leisure institutions, branches of educational institutions in the nearest city, accelerate the development of road infrastructure and open paramedic stations. The author concludes that the socioeconomic situation in rural settlements requires the joint efforts of regional, local authorities, and the public in solving topical issues of the development of all branches of agriculture, further improving the quality of work of educational and cultural institutions, culture, and the construction of new roads.
