Abstract

This paper presents new facts and information on the various sword-cutlers who occupied one of the most notable trading sites for swords and military accoutrements in the West End of London in the 18th and 19th centuries; and also discusses various aspects of the retail trade in the capital at a time when Britain was emerging as the world's foremost trading nation and colonial power.
