Abstract

This chapter discusses the royal prerogative of the Crown which embodies its legal power and authority in Great Britain. It suggests that greater clarity can be achieved by distinguishing three types of enterprise with regard to analysing the royal prerogative. These types of investigations address the classes of powers, rights, and immunities that were considered to be the royal prerogative in the past. The chapter also identifies the principles that underpin the royal prerogative.
