Abstract

Does the RAF really need to remain in Germany? Given that there no longer exists a major threat to the security of Western Europe and that there is a need for all round reductions in defence expenditure, Wing Commander Brookes here re‐views the political,’ operational and organisational imperatives behind the continued RAF presence in Germany and concludes that the alternative of returning to the UK and utilising to the full equipment and facilities here would have little political or organisational impact and is better suited to current‐needs and realities.
