Abstract

The ground state rotational spectrum of the C3ν symmetric top molecule trimethylamine was measured from 8 to 700 GHz using microwave and millimeter-wave Fourier-transform spectroscopies as well as far-infrared laser sidebands spectroscopy. The nitrogen quadrupole coupling constant was accurately determined: eQq(14N) = −5.5002(18) MHz. A centrifugal distortion analysis was performed and all the determinable sextic constants were accurately determined. For high-J values, a splitting of the K = 3 lines was observed and the splitting constant h3 was determined.
