Abstract

This paper presents results of computer simulation of elevation angles radar measurements of low-altitude targets over a rough sea. Two measurement methods were investigated – the root-MUSIC method and the monopulse amplitude sum-difference method. The interference created by both reflections from the sea and the noise of the radar receiving channels were taken into account. The X-band radiation source moving in a distance from 500 m to 4000 m at a height of 10 m was used as a target. The values of errors in measuring the elevation angle for various sea states are obtained. It was determined that the errors in measuring the elevation angle by the root-MUSIC method are significantly less than the errors of the monopulse method, including condition with the prevailing diffuse reflection of radio waves from the sea.
