Abstract

Abstract In 1980 the first Asian Conference on Remote Sensing (ACRS) was held in Bangkok, Thailand. Since then, annual conferences were held and more than a thousand participants have come together in these conferences to exchange information on remote sensing, to discuss related unique problems in Asia and to promote operational utilization of remote sensing data in the Asian region. Main roles of the Asian Conference on Remote Sensing are to offer opportunities to know each other amongst remote sensing scientists in Asia, to give them opportunites to present technical papers and national activities in each Asian country, and to promote remote sensing activities in the host countries as well as in all Asian nations.
