Abstract

The main characteristic of phraseology is the national peculiarities of world perception and understanding. Different ways of perceiving and understanding the world, the history of the country and other extra linguistic factors lead to the creation of such list of phraseological units that will be characteristic for only one particular language. The national character and connection with the history of the country is well seen in Spanish phraseology as well. Spanish history and historical events dated with historical events of different centuries have repeatedly been a “source of inspiration” for Spanish phraseology. However, it should be noted that the Spanish phraseological units inspired by the history of the country do not describe a specific historical event, but it names the geographical object where important events for the history of the country took place. Discussion-analysis of toponyms and toponymic phraseological units is the main topic of this paper.
