Abstract

Through evolution, the human organism has maintained a symbiotic relationship with the gut microbiome. There is increasing evidence linking a ‘dysfunctional’ gut microbiome to onset of psychiatric conditions, such as autism, depression, anxiety and possibly schizophrenia. We aim to investigate the gut microbiome composition in schizophrenia patients being treated with clozapine.
