Abstract

As a result of the changing workloads of multiple sclerosis (MS) teams across the country, people with advanced MS are less likely to be seen by MS specialist services. The MS Trust, with support from NHS England and the Optimum Care Pathway for MS, introduced a pilot programme that established the role of six advanced MS champions in different sites across the UK. By working solely with people with advanced MS, the aim is for this role to address the health inequalities and ensure every person with MS receives access to the specialist care they need.
