Abstract

The experimental data have shown that when the temperature of the reaction of carbon with carbon dioxide is above 2000°K under the reaction conditions of the developed diffusion regime a solid phase from the inner portions of the body is consumed. The carry-over of carbon from the volume can be caused either by the carbon sublimation in the volume accompanied by the carry-over of carbon vapour from the sample volume to the surface or by the self-diffusion of carbon atoms to the boundary of the phases. The analysis of the observed phenomena has been presented on the basis of the experimental data on carbon sublimation and distribution of the carbon density in the sample.
