Abstract

The effect of desialylation on the survival of human transcortin and of its ligand cortisol has been investigated using the isolated perfused rat liver preparation. In contrast with native transcortin, sialic acid-free transcortin was promptly cleared from the perfusate. The hepatic uptake was accompanied by a significant reduction of the cortisol half-life.
