Abstract

This paper seeks to explain how religion can be used as a tool for political mobilization using Nigeria as a case study. It is divided into four parts. The first part is the introduction that gives us an overview and contextual framework of the setting. It provides the definition of the main concepts, religion, politics, and political mobilization as well as a background of the various kinds of religion and their origin in Nigeria. Section II examines other scholarly literature on the subject by different authors. Section III zooms in on the case study of Nigeria and examines how religion is used as a political tool. Chapter IV summarizes the main points of the paper as way of conclusion.
