Abstract

There has been an increasing spreading of respiratory diseases (RDs) in recent decades. They are a major medico-social problem of the pediatric population. The high spreading of respiratory diseases makes them the first cause of disability in children. The significant expenses by society for the containment and treatment of RDs are an important criteria for the significance of these diseases. The implementation of rehabilitation measures in pediatrics and particularly in diseases of the respiratory system is not rationally and fully applied. By including pulmonary rehabilitation (PR) in the treatment and prevention of RDs, the main purpose is to reduce the symptoms, improve the quality of life, increase physical activity in everyday life and enhance the psycho-emotional tonus. It is used to prevent complications in other organs and systems and reduce economic costs and health care needs.
