Abstract

AbstractIn contemporary urban China, there are many different commercial spaces, one of them is shopping mall model. These shopping malls have similar patterns in composing mixed areas, including shopping, residential, office, hotel and leisure. However, why they formed in a similar space organization? Does governance model can influence the form of urban shopping mall during construction process? This study focuses on the governance of shopping mall model in urban China by examining the different public private partnerships of different projects. Through two examples of Rongchuang mall in Wuxi and Aqua mall in Nanjing, this study argues that the similar formation of shopping mall in urban China is related with the public-private partnerships during construction process.KeywordsPublic-private partnerships (PPPs)Project constructionShopping mallUrban China
