Abstract

Abstract Protamine zinc insulin significantly increases the bursting strength of experimental abdominal wounds in rats. Better healing was also noticed in these wounds when studied histologically. There was an earlier appearance of collagen fibres in the treated wounds, and these fibres became compact, dense, and welloriented sooner than those in the control animals. There was no significant increase in the quantity of collagen fibres in treated animals when studied by the granuloma pouch technique.
