Abstract

Asthma is the most common chronic airways disease of childhood. Allergic asthma is the most common phenotype in childhood. Definition of allergic asthma is typically based on presence or absence of atopy. In asthma, platelets have been found to actively participate in airway inflammation. The aim of this study is to evaluate levels of platelet indices in atopic and non-atopic asthmatic patients and to investigate the usefulness as a marker for the detection of atopy. Patients with asthma between January 2014 and January 2015 were retrospectively screened. 142 patients who fit for inclusion exclusion criteria enrolled into the study.
