Abstract

ABSTRACT Petrographic techniques that include X-ray Diffraction, thin section, and Scanning Electron Microscope analyses can assess the potential reservoir sensitivity of a formation. The results of these analyses can be used to design programs to minimize formation damage from fresh-water and acid (HCl, HF) sensitive minerals and to reduce the severity of migration of "fines" and "sand" production problems.
