Abstract
A crude peroxidase preparation from leaves of young wheat plants oxidizes IAA in the presence of Mn 2+ and a phenolic cofactor in the absence of erogenous H 2O 2. When erogenous H 2O 2 is supplied the enzyme oxidizes ferulic and p-coumaric acids. Ferulic acid causes a lag period in the oxidation of IAA and is oxidized itself during the lag.
